Mission statement (What you do) is an exact definition of
what organization does on a daily basis and what you want to perform. It should
describe the business you are in and provide a definition of why the organization
exists.
Or, a one sentence statement describing the reason an
organization or program exists and used to help guide decisions about
priorities, actions, and responsibilities.
Try and keep this to one or two sentences in length.
Examples:
Non Profit: The Children's center mission is to complement the service and education objectives of the university by: providing education, care, and nurturing for the children of students, staff, faculty, and community members. utilizing culturally and developmentally appropriate practices. serving as a role model of child care excellence for the community at large. from New Maxico Tech Children's Center
Education: the advancement of all good literature, arts, and sciences, the advancement and education of youth in all manner of good literature, arts and sciences; and all other necessary provisions that may conduce to the education of the youth of this country. from Harvard University
Corporations: Apple designs macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, ilife, iwork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its ipods and itunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and app store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with ipad. from Apple
